The designated person or persons who receive life insurance benefits upon the death of the insured.
A person who is eligible to receive, or is receiving, benefits from an insurance policy (usually) or health maintenance organization (occasionally). Usually includes both people who have themselves contracted for benefits and their eligible dependents.
The person entitled to benefits from insurance or some other health care financing program, such as Medicare—the person “insured” as contrasted with the owner of the policy, for example.
