Tortilla

A circular unleavened flat bread made out of coarse cornmeal water and lime that is partially dried and kept refrigerated until used.

The bread indigenous to the nation, comprises an exceedingly slender, level, circular flapjack fabricated from cornmeal, and cooked until thoroughly done but not to the point of browning, using a particular frying pan.

In the vibrant tapestry of Mexican cuisine, a beloved delicacy emerges in the form of a delicate and thin pancake. This culinary delight, known as a tortilla, is meticulously crafted from a dough composed of masa flour—a combination of corn kernels cooked with slaked lime, subsequently dried, and finely ground. With skilled hands, these tortillas are skillfully shaped and flattened before meeting the scorching surface of a hot griddle. The heat transforms them into a state of delectable dryness as they undergo the cooking process on both sides. Upon completion, these Mexican tortillas are presented with a sprinkle of salt, their pliable form gracefully rolled into a slender cylinder. Should these edible canvases be adorned with a medley of beans, succulent meat, and a spirited sauce prior to rolling, they earn the esteemed title of Tacos.
