A compound (ester) formed by the combination of glycerol and fatty acids and the loss of water (the ester linkage). According to the number of ester linkages, the compound is a mono-, di-, or triglyceride.


A lipid consisting of glycerol (an alcohol) combined with one or more fatty acids.
