Small increase in blood pH after a meal as a result of the secretion of gastric acid
Temporary decrease in acidity of urine following awakening and after meals. The former results from an increased rate of breathing, in which excess carbon dioxide is eliminated; the latter results from an increase of base in the blood following the secretion of HC1 into gastric juice.
