Sadism

The seeking of pleasure in or the fantasy of inflicting pain or humiliation on another. The term also refers to a paraphilia in which conscious sexual excitement is derived from inflicting pain or humiliation.


Pleasure derived from inflicting physical or psychological pain or abuse on others. The sexual significance of sadistic wishes or behavior may be conscious or unconscious. When necessary for sexual gratification, classifiable as a paraphilia.


A sexual variance characterized by acts in which sexual pleasure and fulfillment are derived from inflicting physical and/or psychological pain on another person, masochism.


A sexual condition in which a person finds sexual pleasure in hurting others.


Pleasure obtained by inflicting physical or psychological harm and pain on another person, especially the achievement of sexual gratification from inflicting pain or humiliation on another person, who may be a consenting or nonconsenting partner.

The term applied to a form of sexual perversion, in which satisfaction is derived from the infliction of cruelty upon another person. The condition is commoner in men than in women and is sometimes linked with masochism (a wish to be hurt or abused).

The inclination or habit of experiencing enjoyment, especially of a sexual nature, through causing pain or suffering to others.


A sexual deviation characterized by deriving pleasure from causing harm or cruelty to another person.


In a more extensive context, causing distress or discomfort to another without an apparent reason. This term is derived from the Marquis de Sade (1740-1814), who documented this perversion in his writings.
