Methamphetamine

A longer-acting, legally produced form of the psychostimulant drug, marketed under the brand name desoxyn. Although it is approved for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), methamphetamine is infrequently prescribed because of its abuse potential.


A powerful stimulant of the amphetamine group. Used in the treatment of narcolepsy.


Central nervous system stimulant used to treat narcolepsy and certain other disorders. Adverse effects include central nervous system excitation, increase in blood pressure, nausea, and the potential for drug dependence.


A powerful CNS stimulant and a synthetic form of amphetamine. It is odorless; yellow or off-white in color; and sold in capsules, chunks, or crystals. It can be manufactured in a home laboratory by a “cook” with a few hundred dollars worth of equipment by extracting ephedrine, the main ingredient, from easy to obtain over- the-counter allergy, cold, and diet pills.


A potent pharmaceutical substance prescribed for attention deficit disorder and obesity treatment, yet extensively misused as a stimulant due to its addictive properties.
