Binge drinking

A pattern of heavy alcoholic intake that occurs in bouts of a day or more that are set aside for drinking. During periods between bouts, the subject may abstain from alcohol.


The consumption of more than four or five alcoholic drinks in a row (the lower number applies to women; the higher number applies to men). The behavioral consequences of this practice include impaired driving, sexual assaults, and other forms of violence.


Binge drinking is alcohol abuse. It is consuming five or more drinks at one setting for males or four or more at one setting for females.


The act of drinking five or more drinks in one sitting.


Having five or more drinks for men, or four or more drinks for women, in a single occasion.


The act of indulging in a sequence of five or more alcoholic beverages in a consecutive manner during a single episode.
