Reaction time

The amount of time elapsed between stimulation and acting on the stimulus.


The interval between the presentation of a stimulus and the observed response.

The time period from when a stimulus is presented to the onset of a reaction, or the duration from observing an event to executing a physical action like pressing a car’s brake upon noticing a barrier, typically spans about one-fifth of a second in a healthy young adult.
