Glucose-6-phosphatase

This is an enzyme responsible for facilitating the removal of a phosphate group from glucose 6-phosphate. It is found in the endoplasmic reticulum of the liver, kidney, and intestinal mucosa, but not in muscle tissue. The reaction it catalyzes is a crucial step in hepatic gluconeogenesis, playing a significant role in regulating blood glucose levels.
