The sixth cranial nerve, known as the abducens nerve, provides innervation to the external rectus muscle of the eye. When this nerve and muscle are paralyzed, it can lead to a condition known as squinting.
To move away from the body’s midline is referred to as abduction. For instance, if the arm is shifted sideways away from the body, it is considered an abduction. Conversely, the opposite movement is termed adduction.
