Superior vena cava obstruction

A situation where the circulation of blood through the superior vena cava (the primary vein that carries blood back to the heart from the upper body) is hindered, frequently due to chest pressure. This constriction often stems from a tumor, especially lung cancer or lymphoma. As a consequence of the blockage, pressure can accumulate in the blood vessels behind it, resulting in swelling of the face, neck, and arm.
