Postmenopausal bleeding

Unusual vaginal bleeding occurring in women who have already undergone menopause, the stage when ovulation and menstruation cease. This bleeding could indicate various abnormalities within the reproductive organs. The most frequent and less severe cause is irritation of the genital tissues. Additional factors comprise cervical erosion, cervical cancer, uterine growths, or, on rare occasions, cancer affecting the vulva or vagina. Any instance of postmenopausal bleeding necessitates thorough investigation to rule out the potential presence of cancer.
