This is a birth defect where a baby’s vision is significantly hindered by a clouded lens in the eye. It can be caused by infections like rubella (German measles) or toxoplasmosis, transmitted from the mother to the baby before birth. Cataract surgery to remove the cloudy lens may prove helpful.
