Choledochal cyst

Bile duct dilation refers to the enlargement of the common bile duct, the conduit responsible for carrying bile, a digestive juice, from the liver and gallbladder to the duodenum. This condition is present from birth (congenital), but symptoms may not manifest until early adulthood. The typical indications of this condition include abdominal pain and jaundice, which is characterized by the yellow discoloration of the skin and eyes resulting from the buildup of bilirubin, a bile pigment. Surgical intervention is necessary to correct the abnormality and restore the normal functioning of the bile duct.
