Breast cyst

A fluid-filled growth that emerges within the milk-producing tissue of the breast characterizes a breast cyst. These cysts predominantly affect women in their 30s and 40s, particularly in the period leading up to menopause. Ultrasound scanning, mammography, or the aspiration of fluid from the lump using a syringe and needle (known as aspiration) can aid in diagnosing a lump as a cyst, often leading to its disappearance. It is worth noting that approximately half of all women with a breast cyst will develop additional cysts in the future. Any newly discovered breast lump should be promptly examined by a healthcare professional to confirm the diagnosis.
