Solar lentigines

The emergence of discoloration on the outermost layer of the skin, resulting from frequent exposure to ultraviolet rays, whether from sunlight or tanning beds, is commonly referred to as sunspots. These spots may also be known as age spots or liver spots. Sunspots typically manifest as darker patches or blemishes on the skin and are often associated with the natural aging process or prolonged sun exposure. They are a result of the skin’s reaction to the production of excess melanin, the pigment responsible for skin coloration, in an effort to protect the skin from further UV damage.
