Comt inhibitors

Catechol-omethyl transferase (COMT) inhibitors are a class of drugs that hinder the activity of an enzyme responsible for the degradation of dopamine. By impeding the function of this enzyme, COMT inhibitors help maintain higher levels of dopamine in the body. Two notable examples of COMT inhibitors are entacapone and tolcapone, which have been utilized in the treatment of various conditions. These medications effectively counteract the breakdown of dopamine, leading to enhanced dopamine availability and potentially beneficial outcomes for individuals experiencing dopamine-related disorders.
