Ultrasound scanning machines have the capability to observe dynamic structures. These scanning devices can employ a single transducer that is oscillated rapidly back and forth within a housing, known as a wobbler. Alternatively, they may incorporate multiple transducers within a housing. Typically, this housing is handheld and when placed on the patient’s abdomen, it generates images of moving structures such as fetal movements, blood vessels, and the heart.
