To decrease the exposure rate and improve the quality of the therapy beam, filters are incorporated. These filters consist of a material, often a metal, known as the half value layer (HVL). The HVL refers to the thickness of the material required to reduce the beam intensity by half of its original value. In this context, the metal serves as a filtering agent.
