Blooming focal spot

The size of a focal spot has the tendency to expand (referred to as “bloom”) with an increase in milliamperes (mA). Conversely, it diminishes in size with an increase in the target-to-film distance (TFD). In the context of angiography, it is crucial to acknowledge that the focal spot enlarges by approximately 50 percent when transitioning from 200 to 1000 mA.
