Steaming

An economical method of cooking food in the steam from boiling water. It has the advantage of retaining mineral salts and the water-soluble vitamins B and C, which are apt to be dissolved out when food is boiled in water. Steamed food also keeps a better shape and often a better flavor. Disadvantages are that food may take longer to cook and the room can become filled with steam.
