Hock is the British term used for white wines produced in the Rhine Palatinate and other parts of Germany. The wine originally produced in the vineyards near the town of Hochheim was called Hochheimer. Today, Hock is sold under several famous names such as Johannisberger, Steinberger, Liebfraumilch, Marcobrunner, and Hochheimer. Hochheim is still known for producing the best quality Hock.
