“Browning” is a substance that is commonly utilized as a coloring agent to add a darker shade to soups, gravies, and other similar dishes. While a variety of proprietary brands of browning agents are commercially available, it is also possible to create this substance at home using one of the following methods: (1) By heating sugar until it attains a dark brown color and subsequently adding water to the mixture. (2) By spreading some flour on a baking sheet and baking it in the oven until it browns, stirring it regularly. The resulting mixture can be kept in a covered jar for future use.
