Bordeaux wines

Bordeaux stands as the foremost district for fine wine production throughout the expanse of France. This wine region boasts an array of advantageous features, including a stable climate, a strategic proximity to the sea, and an abundance of rivers and forests that shield it from harsh salt winds while simultaneously mitigating excessive rainfall. Although the topsoil is often lackluster, the bedrock of the region teems with valuable minerals. The wine itself is crafted from a blend of various grape varieties, with the specific proportions varying according to each proprietor. The primary regions for producing Bordeaux ‘rouge’ wines include Médoc, St Emilion, Pomerol, and Graves, with numerous chateaux producing and bottling exceptional wines throughout the region. The majority of these wines are of a vintage variety, with only those bottled overseas deviating from this tradition. A vintage wine must be aged for a minimum of 5 years, with some wines boasting a longevity of 50 years or more.
