A cylindrical and drum-shaped vessel, commonly known as a mold, is utilized for preparing a variety of food items such as meat, fish, or cheese, which are cooked and served in the mold. Additionally, a pastry shell is also baked within the confines of this mold.
A mold with straight or sloping sides, made from ovenproof china or tinned copper, is commonly used for shaping meat or fish mixtures and is known as a timbale mold. These molds are often used to create hot timbales, which can be lined with macaroni, potato, or pastry. Cold molds are typically lined with aspic and decorated. Dishes cooked in these molds are often referred to as “timbales” and are a great way to utilize leftover meat, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients.
