Knaidlach

The small, spherical dumplings that are being referred to may either be plain or contain added ingredients such as cheese, potatoes, or sugar. They are typically cooked by boiling them in either soup or water and can be served in the soup itself, alongside meat, or even as a dessert. It is worth noting that this type of dumpling may also be spelled as “kneidlach”.

This diminutive dumpling is crafted using matzo meal instead of traditional flour and is specifically intended for the Jewish festival of Passover. It may be served either as a dessert or in soup.
