British physician and author of a famous book documenting his research on human AURAS. He was born on May 23, 1847, at Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England, attended St. John’s College at Cambridge University, and pursued his medical studies at St. Thomas’s Hospital in London. In 1879 he was appointed head of electrotherapy at St. Thomas’s. He joined the Royal College of Physicians in 1883 and spent most of the rest of his life in private practice.
Kilner had become aware of Karl Von Reichenbach’s reports of having seen a luminous radiation around both the poles of magnets and human hands. Various psychics had reported radiations coming from human bodies, but there was little hope at the time that scientists could verify these reports or reproduce the phenomena. Kilner reasoned, however, that if the aura existed, it might merely need the proper filter to make it visible.
