Tympanostomy tube

A tube placed through the tympanic membrane of the ear to allow ventilation of the middle ear as part of the treatment of otitis media with effusion.

An ear tube, a diminutive cylindrical structure composed of either metal or plastic, is delicately introduced into the middle ear as part of a myringotomy procedure. Its purpose is to facilitate adequate ventilation within the middle ear cavity, promoting optimal auditory function and alleviating potential complications.
