Phlegmasia alba dolens

A complication of deep venous thrombosis of the iliofemoral veins in which the affected leg becomes extremely pale, swollen, and tender.

A uncommon issue affecting the legs after childbirth results in the limb becoming tight, pale, shiny, and significantly swollen. The swelling is firm and doesn’t leave an indent when pressed. This condition is likely caused by an infection and inflammation of the lymphatic vessels leading to a subtle, underlying skin inflammation. It’s also known as white leg or milk leg.
