Medical problems of musicians

Profession-related injuries, most commonly overuse injuries involving muscle-tendon units. The pain associated with this type of injury may be mild or severe enough to prevent use of the affected part. Those who play string instruments have more difficulty than those who use percussion instruments; women are more commonly affected than men. Focal dystonias may involve the hands or the muscles of the face and lips, and may be severe. Stress and anxiety may interfere with or prevent performing.
