A flexible tube, usually made of plastic or rubber, placed in the intestinal tract to aspirate gas, fluid, or solids from the stomach or intestines or to administer fluids, electrolytes, or nutrients to the patient. The tube may be passed through the nose, mouth, or anus, or through an abdominal opening (e.g., jejunostomy).
