Intermittent hydrarthrosis

Recurring attacks of swelling of the large joints, lasting 2 to 5 days and then remitting spontaneously. The condition affects men and women equally. The period between attacks is commonly 2 to 4 weeks, during which time the joint is normal. The knee is usually involved, but the elbow, hip, and ankle also may be affected.
