Lymphocytic choriomeningitis

An acute viral infection of the central nervous system marked by flulike symptoms (fever, malaise, headache). The disease is transmitted to humans from house mice.

A viral disease that affects wild mice and, in some cases, can potentially be transmitted to dogs and even humans. In humans, it can lead to an uncommon form of meningitis without any apparent underlying infection. This illness is marked by a swift onset of symptoms associated with irritation of the meninges and typically follows a brief and non-severe course, with eventual recovery.
