An infectious illness transmitted to humans by ticks of the genus Amblyomma infected with Rickettsia africae. The disease is found in sub-Saharan Africa and the French West Indies and is characterized by fevers, headache, scabs that form at the site of tick inoculation, and localized lymph node swelling.
