A semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid cytotoxic drug used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer, when anthracycline cytotoxic antibiotics such as doxorubicin have failed. Vinorelbine is also used to treat advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. As with all vinca alkaloids, the drug has neurotoxic effects, usually affecting the peripheral nervous system and autonomic nervous system. It may also cause (reversible) hair loss (alopecia). The drug is given intravenously.
