Promyelocyte

One of the series of cells that gives rise to the granulocytes (a type of white blood cell). It has abundant cytoplasm that, with Romanovsky stains, appears blue with reddish granules (compare myeloblast, myelocyte). Promyelocytes are normally found in the blood-forming tissue of the bone marrow but may appear in the blood in a variety of diseases.
