Bartonella

A genus of parasitic rod-shaped or rounded microorganisms, usually regarded as intermediate between the bacteria and rickettsiae. They occur in the red blood cells and cells of the lymphatic system, spleen, liver, and kidneys. B. bacilliformis causes bartonellosis in man.


A genus of gram-negative bacteria of the family Rickettsia, that cause infections that are transmitted to humans from animal hosts (zoonoses).
