Aphlebia

A narrow, strap-like, very spiny leaflet quite different in form from normal leaflets, found at the very base of the adult sessile leaves of Eremospatha and Laccosperma. (Termed ‘aphlebia’ because of the superficial similarity to structures of this name in certain Pteridophytes; specialist term used in Palmae.
