Dermatofibroma

A nodule (a solid mass of tissue) or small, round bump on the skin. Dermatofibromas may be pink or brown and are commonly found on the arms and legs of adults. They are believed to follow mild trauma or injury. Dermatofibromas are common, common, benign (not cancerous), and painless. However, they may persist indefinitely. A diagnosis is made through medical examination if the nodule dimples inward when the doctor squeezes it between his or her thumb and forefinger. No treatment is required, although surgical removal may be performed for cosmetic reasons.

Also known as histiocytoma. A firm, painless nodule in the skin, typically on a leg, due to excessive formation of collagen. A common disorder, it is often a slow response to an insect bite and persists indefinitely.

A firm but freely movable benign skin nodule, often found on the lower extremities.
