An X-ray technique in which dye is injected through the liver into the bile duct to detect obstruction.
A percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram is a radiographic examination of the bile ducts using X-rays. In this procedure, a needle is inserted through the skin and passed across or over the liver. The needle is then directed into a bile duct to administer a contrast dye. The dye aids in enhancing the X-ray image, facilitating the visualization and mapping of the bile duct system, a process known as cholangiography.
