Refers to a condition in which blood vessels spasm, leading to vasoconstriction and subsequently to tissue ischemia and death (necrosis).
Sudden decrease in the size of a blood vessel.
Spasmodic contraction of blood vessels.
A muscle spasm causing the fingers to become cold, white and numb.
The constriction or narrowing of blood vessels as a result of contraction of the smooth muscle in blood vessel walls. Cerebral vasospasm is a common complication of a subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding into the space between the brain and the arachnoid membrane; see hemorrhage, subarachnoid). If the blood vessels in the brain narrow to the point of limiting blood flow, there is an increased risk of tissue damage and death.
The constriction of a blood vessel resulting from the spasmodic contraction of the smooth muscle within the vessel wall.
