Vasodilator

Drug that causes dilation or relaxation of blood vessels.

Relaxes and widens blood vessels.

A substance that causes an increase in the internal diameter of blood vessels.

Agent that dilates the blood vessels and so improve circulation.

Drug or agent causing relaxation and expansion of the blood vessels.

An agent that encourages the relaxation of blood vessels.

A substance that causes dilation (i.e., expansion) of blood vessels; dilation can be caused by substances normally present in the body and by some medications. The dilation of arterioles is mainly responsible for lowering blood pressure.

Dilates, or widens, the veins and arteries through relaxation of cells in the muscle walls.

A chemical substance which makes blood vessels become wider, so that blood flows more easily and blood pressure falls, e.g. hydralazine hydrochloride.

Agent that dilates or widens blood vessels. Some vasodilators, including nitroglycerine and hydralazine, are used in the treatment of certain heart ailments.

Drugs that widen blood vessels by relaxing blood vessel walls. Vasodilators are used to treat congestive heart failure by reducing the workload of the heart and by lowering blood pressure to increase the supply of oxygen and blood to the heart. These drugs are also used to treat hypertension.

A drug that causes widening of the blood vessels and therefore an increase in blood flow. Vasodilators are used to lower blood pressure in cases of hypertension. Coronary vasodilators, such as glyceryl trinitrate and pentaerythritol, increase the blood flow through the heart and are used to relieve and prevent angina. Large doses of coronary vasodilators cause such side-effects as flushing of the face, severe headache, and fainting. Peripheral vasodilators, such as cyclandelate, phenoxybenzamine, and tolazoline, affect the blood vessels of the limbs and are used to treat conditions of poor circulation, such as acrocyanosis, chilblains, and Raynaud’s disease.

Substances which have the property of dilating or constricting veins.

A substance that dilates the blood vessels so causing an increase in blood flow and a decrease in blood pressure.

This substance has the capacity to trigger a physiological response wherein the smooth muscle cells in blood vessels are prompted to loosen up, leading to the expansion of the vessel and subsequently, heightened circulation and a reduction in blood pressure. Its pharmacological attributes make it a commonly prescribed medication for instances of acute heart failure.

A category of medications that dilate blood vessels, subsequently reducing resistance to blood flow and lowering blood pressure.

Inducing the widening of blood vessels.

A substance that promotes the expansion of blood vessels.
