Compression of nerve roots of the sacral and coccygeal nerves resulting in numbness in the buttocks, genitalia, or thigh along with disturbed bowel and bladder function.
A rare but severe neurologic disorder caused by compression of the cauda equina (a group of nerve roots at the end of the spinal cord). Possible causes could include a herniated disk, tumor, or a blood clot that compresses the spinal cord. Compression of the nerves can lead to incontinence, paralysis, and lack of sensation in t he legs if left untreated.
A constellation of symptoms is observed, which includes numbness or pain in the legs, as well as loss of bladder and bowel control. These symptoms arise due to the compression and paralysis of the nerve roots located in the cauda equina.
