Systolic

The blood pressure when the heart is contracting. It is specifically the maximum arterial pressure during contraction of the left ventricle of the heart.


The measurement of arterial blood pressure at the point of heart contraction (greatest pressure); the higher of the two BP numbers, with diastolic being the lower.


Referring to the systole.


The pressure in the arteries during the contraction phase of the heartbeat. This is the first number in a blood pressure reading.


Describing the rhythmic contraction of the heart during systole, when blood is forcefully pumped out of the chambers. Systolic blood pressure pertains to the measurement of blood pressure during the systolic phase.
