Prostate

A gland that surround the urethra at the bladder in the male.

This is a walnut-sized gland that surrounds the beginning of the urethra in men. It secretes the alkaline transport fluid that mixes with sperm from the testes to form semen. The prostate needs adequate anabolic steroid stimulation for its health and growth, especially testosterone. Because of diminished healthy hormone levels, pelvic congestion, and decreased blood (and hormone) circulation, or because of sexually transmitted or urinary tract infections, a male may get prostatitis.

A gland at the base of the male bladder that secretes a fluid that forms part of semen (stimulating sperm motility).

Firm, chestnut-sized gland in males at the neck of the urethra that produces a secretion that is the fluid part of semen.

A round gland surrounding the neck of the bladder and urethra, producing fluid that becomes part of semen.

A gland, consisting of a median lobe and two lateral lobes, that surrounds the neck of the bladder and the urethra in the male. It is partly muscular and partly glandular, with ducts opening into the prostatic portion of the urethra. About 2 X 4 X 3 cm, and weighing about 20 g, it is enclosed in a fibrous capsule containing smooth muscle fibers in its inner layer. Muscle fibers also separate the glandular tissue and encircle the urethra. The gland secretes a thin, opalescent, slightly alkaline fluid that forms part of the seminal fluid.

Male gland responsible for producing seminal fluid.

A gland in the male reproductive system just below the bladder. The prostate surrounds part of the urethra, the canal that empties the bladder, and produces a fluid that forms part of semen.

The male gland that wraps around the neck of the bladder and produces a thin fluid that makes semen into a liquid.

The prostate, a gland resembling a walnut, envelops the urethra at the base of the bladder in males. It produces and contributes fluid to semen.
