Widespread inflammation of the nerves.

An inflammation encompassing many peripheral nerves.

Inflammation of all or most of the peripheral nerves.

Any disorder involving all the peripheral nerves. The term is often used interchangeably with polyneuropathy although its specific use implies inflammation of the nerves.

Neuritis that impacts multiple nerves concurrently, particularly those in the limbs, resulting in muscle paralysis, muscle atrophy, and sensory disruptions. It is frequently triggered by alcohol, lead, and arsenic poisoning, as well as conditions like diabetes, beriberi, and occasionally viral infections. Additionally, it may manifest in diseases such as diphtheria, typhoid fever, or syphilis. This condition is also known as multiple neuritis or peripheral neuritis.
