Caudal anesthesia

Type of regional anesthesia involving the injection of an anesthetic into the tail end (the small-of- the-back part) of the spinal canal to prevent pain in that region, as during the delivery of a baby or during anal or genitourinary surgery; now largely replaced by other forms of regional anesthesia, especially epidural anesthesia; also called caudal block.

Injection of a local analgesic agent into the epidural space of the sacrum.

Anesthesia produced by insertion of a needle into the sacrococcygeal notch and injection of a local anesthetic into the epidural space.
