Interleukin-6 (IL-6)

An interleukin that acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine.

A cytokine (glycoprotein) that is pleiotropic (i.e., stimulates several different types of immune system cells); and is a hematopoietic growth factor.
