An instrument which is passed into the ureter and up into the kidneys, usually used to locate or remove a stone.
A flexible or rigid endoscopic instrument that is inserted (via the urinary bladder) into the ureter and up into the pelvis of the kidney. The instrument is commonly used to identify a stone in the ureter and to remove it under vision with forceps or a stone basket. If the stone is large it is broken into fragments, using an ultrasound or electrohydraulic lithotripsy probe that is inserted through the instrument.
A rigid or flexible endoscope used to examine and treat diseases of the urinary bladder or ureters. Ureteroscopes are inserted into the urethra and advanced upward toward the kidneys. They can be used to biopsy suspicious lesions or remove urinary stones lodged in the ureters.
