Subarachnoid space

A space between the arachnoid membrane and the pia mater in the brain, containing cerebrospinal fluid.

Space located under the arachnoid membrane and above the pia mater of the meninges and containing cerebrospinal fluid. A type of spinal anesthesia, often used for obstetrical and gynecological procedures, is achieved by injecting an anesthetic agent into the subarachnoid space.

The cerebrospinal fluid-filled area between the pia mater and the arachnoid surfaces of the brain.

The space between the arachnoid and pia meninges of the brain and spinal cord, containing circulating cerebrospinal fluid and large blood vessels. Several large spaces within it are known as cisternae.

The space between the arachnoid and the pia mater two of the membranes covering the brain.
